Departure from Hostel Nikos II or the hotel of your choice, transfer by bus for 15 minutes We arrive at the enclosure of Mr. Adán Paredes and his family in the Cerro Dorotea sector that will be waiting for us with their horses ready. The baqueanos will assign the horse that fits their knowledge of riding, and then a brief instructive and safety talk will be given, helping the passengers achieve a correct position and comfort during the ride.
We start riding ascending in the direction of Cerro Dorotea with its 800 meters high. After 1 hour and a half. We reached the summit and took a break, leaving the horses to rest, right where we enjoyed an impressive view of Puerto Natales, Ultima Esperanza Fjord, Golfo Montt, Dumestre sector and much of the Patagonian steppe (Argentina). Here the guide will introduce us a bit into the history of the region and the first pioneers and explorers who colonized these lands, along with a small snack. Maybe the baqueanos have their “yerbero” in the saddle and invite us to take the typical “mate”, next to them in a small fire.
At the top of the hill, we can also appreciate the majestic condor, which nests on the vertical walls of Cerro Dorotea and who will almost certainly fly over us to make sure that we are not a possible food, these on perfect flights are thanks to the wind, which when hitting the vertical walls of the hill, the condors achieve an ideal livelihood to be able to approach a few meters from the horses. After the visit to the summit, we continue along the edge of the hill, with a direct view to Puerto Natales, until we begin the descent to the Paredes family house, where they will be waiting for us with a classic field eleven (snack) with coffee or hot tea, next to the typical sopaipillas with sweet and butter.
